Here is a children's poem written (and illustrated) by the late Shel Silverstein. It pretty much sums it up for me.
"Hug O' War"
I will not play at tug o' war.
I'd rather play at hug o' war,
Where everyone hugs Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.

I second that.
It's a sad reflection on our species that so many believe war is unavoidable, inevitable. I know of no other species where the greatest threat to its survival is itself.
