I was delighted today to discover that I am apparently not the only fan of the amazingly eloquent (but too seldom quoted) 19th century French playwright Honoré de Balzac. And imagine how happy I was to find that the other person who still remembered him was none other than my favorite gear-gritter. Here's one of my favorites:"To kill a relative of whom you are tired is something. But to inherit his property afterwards, that is genuine pleasure."
